A safe place to fish, and a safe place to be sober
OUR MISSION
Reeling in Serenity celebrates life free from addiction by embracing nature and the spiritual connection that fly fishing has brought so many.
We do this through free fly fishing retreats, open to those who have chosen to live their personal truth. We also serve as a safe space and a resource for the sober fly angler who is doing the work, one day at a time.
IN MEMORY OF
Becca Sue Klein
Becca founded Reeling in Serenity out of her own recovery. She
had found fly fishing at the point in her life when she needed
something to hold onto, and she recognized what it was doing for her before she had the words for it. She started taking other people fishing. That was the whole beginning of it.
She didn't do it alone. Sylvia Huron, Jennifer Gilbert and Ian Huron co-founded Reeling in Serenity with her, and all three are still here.
She spent more than fifteen years at Chattahoochee Riverkeeper defending the river, and was a member of Georgia Women Fly Fishers and Trout Unlimited. The Becca Sue Klein All Kids Fish event still brings young people to the water to learn the sport she loved.
She passed away in January 2025. Everything here is built on
what she started, and it's run the way she ran it — by volunteers,
at no cost to anyone who comes.

WHAT WE DO
Three things, really
Strip it back and there are three things here. A day on the water, the people you spend it with, and the reason any of it matters.
Retreats
Guided trips with all gear and instruction provided. Free to every participant.
Connection
The fishing is the reason to show up; the people are the reason it works.
Recovery
Sobriety is the work. This day is a reminder of what makes it worth it.
