Privacy Policy
Effective October 16, 2026
Reeling in Serenity, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that runs free fly fishing retreats for people in recovery from substance use disorder. We know that reaching out to us can mean sharing something personal. This policy explains what we collect through reelinginserenity.org, how we use it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
Information you give us. When you join a retreat waitlist, register for a retreat, apply to volunteer or host, partner with us, sign up for our newsletter, donate or contact us, we collect what you enter — typically your name, email, phone number, city and state, and your answers to the form’s questions. Retreat registration may also include wader and boot sizes, dietary needs and an emergency contact.
Donations. Online donations are processed by Network for Good. Your payment card details go directly to them; Reeling in Serenity never sees or stores your full card number.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, ours uses cookies and basic analytics provided through our website platform to understand how the site is used — pages visited, browser and device type, and general location. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
How we use it
To run retreats: confirm eligibility, plan gear and meals, keep you informed, and reach your emergency contact if we need to
To respond to volunteers, hosts, partners and members of the press
To process donations, send tax receipts and say thank you
To send the newsletter and updates you’ve asked for — every email includes an unsubscribe link
Your participation is confidential
We treat the fact that someone has registered for or attended a retreat as confidential. We do not publish participants’ names, and we do not share participant information with other participants or with anyone outside Reeling in Serenity without permission. Participant quotes are used anonymously and only with consent. We don’t photograph anyone who has asked not to be photographed.
How we share information
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only:
With service providers that help us operate — Squarespace (our website), Network for Good (forms, donations and email) and Google Workspace (email and file storage) — who may use it only to provide their services to us
With the retreat host and volunteers running a retreat you’ve registered for, on a need-to-know basis
When required by law, or to protect someone’s safety in an emergency
Donor recognition
We like to thank our supporters publicly, and donors may be listed by name on our website. If you’d prefer to give anonymously, tell us when you donate or email us and we’ll keep your name off the site.
Age
Our retreats are for adults 18 and over, and this site is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Security and retention
We limit access to personal information to the people who need it and rely on the security tools provided by our service providers. No system is perfectly secure, so we collect only what we need and keep it only as long as we need it to run our programs, meet legal and tax obligations, and stay in touch with people who want to hear from us.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop hearing from us, at any time by emailing info@reelinginserenity.org. Some records — donation records and signed waivers, for example — we may need to keep for legal or tax reasons.
Other sites
Our site links to partners and other organizations whose privacy practices are their own. Purchases from our shop are handled by Bonfire under its own privacy policy.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll post the update here with a new effective date.
